Macy's was founded in 1858 by Rowland Hussey Macy. Although Macy had a few failed business attempts before Macy's, he was able to pool his experience and know-how to create a successful department store. Considered to be mid-to-high range, Macy's sells clothing, shoes, makeup, housewares, linens and more. Today, there are more than 800 Macy's stores in the US. Macy's has hosted the annual New York City Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade since 1924.
What to Expect When Interviewing
The majority of applicants that interview for a position at Macy's report a positive interview experience. Potential employees can expect a fairly straightforward interview process consisting of a face-to-face or group interview with a store manager in which standard interview questions are posed. An example might include, "Describe a time you received good customer service." Management positions may be required to take a personality test, be asked to submit to a drug test and participate in a group interview. Potential employees can apply online or in person, and phone interviews are sometimes conducted.
